Wrecking yard
Another name for a junkyard or dismantler that buys vehicles to take apart for parts.
A wrecking yard is a business that buys vehicles in order to wreck, meaning dismantle, them for parts and scrap. The term also appears in some state laws, which call the licensed business a vehicle wrecker.
Whatever the name, the practical questions for a seller are the same: is the business licensed, will it handle the title and reporting, and does its price include towing?
Washington law defines a vehicle wrecker as any person or business that buys, sells or deals in registrable vehicles to wreck, dismantle, disassemble or substantially change their form, or that deals in secondhand vehicle parts.1
