Selling a car to a yard in Connecticut

  • Title: The seller completes and signs the reverse side of the title and gives it to the buyer, along with a bill of sale.
  • No title: Connecticut does not require titles for vehicles more than 20 model years old (CGS §14-166), so those sell without a title; the registration serves as proof of ownership.
  • Plates: Plates stay with the seller.
