Car crusher
A machine that flattens or bales stripped vehicles so they can be hauled cheaply to a shredder.
A car crusher, or flattener, compresses a vehicle hulk after parts and fluids are removed so more cars fit on a truck bound for a shredder or steel mill. Some yards use portable crushers that visit several sites.
Crushing is the point of no return for a vehicle, which is why states require the right paperwork first, such as a junk title, certificate of destruction or authority to dispose.
Texas law lets a recorded owner, a person who has been transferred ownership, or a person in possession of an abandoned vehicle apply for a Certificate of Authority to transfer it to a motor vehicle demolisher for crushing and destroying.1
