Full guide: Bill of sale for a junk car
A bill of sale is a written record of a vehicle sale. It typically lists the buyer and seller, the date, the price, and the vehicle’s year, make and VIN. It supports the title transfer but does not replace the title in most states.
Even when your state doesn’t require one, keep a copy when you sell a junk car. It proves when the car left your hands, which helps if parking tickets, tolls or abandonment notices show up later.
Florida’s official form doubles as a notice of sale and a bill of sale. For a notice of sale, the seller completes the vehicle and seller sections; for a bill of sale, both seller and purchaser complete it.1
