Automotive Recyclers Association (ARA)

The trade association for automotive recyclers that dismantle vehicles and sell recycled parts.

The Automotive Recyclers Association (ARA) is a trade association for businesses that dismantle vehicles and sell recycled original-equipment parts. It runs training and certification programs and advocates on issues such as parts access, titling and environmental compliance.

For consumers, membership or certification is one signal that a yard follows industry standards, though it is not a substitute for checking state licensing and reviews.

The ARA says it has been setting the standard since 1943 and represents over 4,500 facilities across 15 countries.1
